Patricia C. Dykes PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Senior Nurse Scientist, Program Director, Nursing Research at Brigham and Women’s Center for Nursing Excellence was recognized as the inaugural winner of the 2014 Rita D. Zielstorff Nursing Informatics Leadership award.

Dr. Dykes was selected based on the nominee’s contributions to the field of nursing informatics through research, education, and mentoring. They include her participation in a number of leadership positions with a variety of professional societies including the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the Health Information Managements and Systems Society (HIMSS), where she received the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Leadership Award, and the Alliance for Nursing Informatics. Her current position provides her the opportunity to be a strong voice in patient safety and exercise her commitment to nursing excellence. She consistently volunteers her time to the NENIC organization, and never denies a request to write an opinion on pending policy, conduct programs, or reach out to national speakers on NENIC’s behalf. She is highly respected and recognized by her Nursing Informatics peers as a role model and mentor.
