PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Paula Wolski’s journey in nursing began at the bedside in critical care — a foundation that continues to ground her informatics work in real clinical realities.


Since 2013, Paula has served as Program Director of Informatics for Nursing and Patient Care Services at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (BWFH), where she has been a central force behind the deployment and ongoing optimization of the Mass General Brigham eCare (Epic) system. Her work directly shapes the daily experience of nurses across one of the region’s most respected health systems.


Her commitment to education is equally defining. As Director of Education and Development for NENIC, Paula ensures members have access to the latest advancements in nursing informatics. As an adjunct faculty member at Emmanuel College, she teaches at both the BSN and MSN levels — actively shaping the next generation of nursing informatics leaders.

KEY CONTRIBUTIONS


1. Reducing Documentation Burden Nationally


Selected as Co-Lead of the Impact Workstream for the AMIA 25x5 Taskforce, Paula helps coordinate over 80 members from health systems, industry, and policy organizations — one of only four workstream leads nationwide.


2. Advocating for Nursing in AI


Paula consistently champions the integration of nursing perspectives into the evolution of artificial intelligence in healthcare, ensuring the profession has a seat at the table as technology reshapes care delivery.


3. Regional and National Education


Through NENIC, Emmanuel College, and the New England HIMSS Clinical Advisory Council, Paula advances informatics education at every career stage — from student nurses to seasoned clinical professionals.
4. Research and Implementation Science


Paula contributes to meaningful clinical research, including the development of a trajectory model for pressure injuries, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based practice and improved patient outcomes.
